Electric Vehicle Recharging Locations

As we know, electric vehicles (EVs) are growing in popularity and availability.  The Ford Motor Company is an excellent example. The iconic Ford pickup 150 is going electric. Boasting over 150,000 pre-orders the rollout is expected next spring.

Yes its exciting. Planning a road trip to Florida or some other annual winter migration with an EV that needs to be charged every 300 miles is going to be exceptionally challenging.  As an owner careful planning is needed:  Can you find a recharging station within range, will it have your specific plug type; and, how long will it take.  (Ford says its F-150 will recharge 80% of its battery in less then 20 minutes – I am not sure why the last 20% will take overnight).

Importantly electric vehicles and other alternative fuelled vehicles are here to stay.

Thanks to the kindness of the US Dept. of Energy we have arranged to provide to you a direct link to its website that lists every charging (and alternative energy) station across North America.  It is updated daily and can be broken down into various findable categories.

  1. Location? – USA and/or Canada – Map your trip;
  2. What fuel do you need? – Electric, Hydrogen, Ethanol, etc.,
  3. Type of electric vehicle “charge” adapter?
  4. Private subscribed recharging stations in addition to Public stations?

There are other map services such as Google and Apple that provide excellent alternative fuel locations and info. However, The US dept of Energy far surpasses them. It is the only authoritative site for educational information, safety requirements, and recalls which the general public can rely upon. It is constantly updated 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year.
