While a rather long drive, manySnowbirds opt to drive. This allows them the freedom of having a car over the winter. Driving such long distances though can unfortunately lead to serious car accidents.

If you are involved in a car accident, motorcycle accident, bicycle accident, or a pedestrian personal injury accident you need to bring an action in court within two years. The limitation can vary depending on the type of harm you suffered. For instance, actions against public employees or other government agencies must be brought within 6 months from the accident date. If you do not bring an action within the specified time you can fine your action is statue barred. Time is of the importance.
Texas also has a very strict car accident law that you won’t find in most states. The driver of any vehicle involved in an accident must immediately report the accident to the local police, no matter how serious. If you do not do so, you can be precluded from bringing an action.

The damages you may receive for a personal injury claim are directly related to how at fault you were in the accident. For instance, if you are partially responsible for the accident, your damages are reduced by a percentage equal to your share of the fault. If you are completely innocent, your damages won’t be reduced at all.
